Bacon and Coffee

There's something about being on vacation that vindicates us from diet, although I must admit I don't follow the rigors of "weight watching" too rigidly...ok, at all, and yes I do know how unhealthy it is to always eat whatever you fancy so save your judgement and talk of Diabetes, BEN! grrrrrr

I have a vacation home in Taylor Lake Village, or at least I like to call it my vacation home. In reality, the owners, salt of the Earth people, are the parents/in-laws of my two best friends...Ali and Ben. The house has a cavernous space in the certain spaning the entire width of the structure and the bedrooms are scattered upstairs and in the wings...I dream of decorating this space for Christmas like some fabulous Barney's New York sidewalk window display as if I have something to sell. The whole back wall of the house is adorned with hurricane proof windows the size of a small car. Three in a row perfecting spaced and angled in an unfinished hexagon. This is where I spend my mornings.
Before 9am it's usually just me and Linda or Marty (salt of the Earth people/home owners) awake so I quietly sit and read or ardently peruse my Facebook wondering what I've missed in the last 8 hours of sleep. Sidenote...I tried to sleep late this morning, but Charlie, my dog, had a different agenda as dogs often do. So I rose at 9am and walked him in the rain, opened a book and read eagerly about the misadventures of an old friend's summer in Paris, relishing a cup of hot black coffee and strips of thick cut crispy pepper bacon. It's ONLY on vacation that I indulge in this meal that will surely ruin me for the rest of the day. But it certainly is worth it and more notably I recognize that I am officially on vacation.
