"Blue Like Jazz" a review...

I just finished reading the book "Blue Like Jazz" and on a sidenote...I finished in just 5 days which makes me very proud. I'm not much of a reader at all and this is the fastest that I have ever read a book cover to cover! Whoo hoo! I feel smart albeit that may not be the case. Although I did just say "albeit" so maybe I am smart...hmmmmm.

Basically each chapter of the book is an honest look at how the author (Donald Miller) has come to view certain topics such as dating, tithing/money, loving each other unconditionally, and directly relates them to life experience in his journey with God forming the paradigm of his Christianity....that sounds too smart. He just honestly says how he feels about issues :)

The book was good, but nothing life changing for me. I did appreciate however the stories he would tell about his friends at Reed College coming into a personal relationship with Jesus. Every story would bring me to tears. I love hearing about how Jesus finds people in their depravity and scoops them out of themselves and they begin to really live. I love knowing the gravity of my salvation and it is truly humbling to see God work in other people's lives.

I'd recommend the book to anyone who is looking for a good and easy read. Goes well with bubble baths and short breaks of Mario Kart.
